What is Respite Care?
Respite care — also called short-term stay, trial stay, or retreat stay — is available at many communities regardless of whether Independent Living, Assisted Living or Memory Care is the lifestyle desired or needed. Usually, all of the amenities of the community are available to those who are there on a short-term basis.
In addition, communities will often provide a furnished apartment for a short-term stay or assist with making arrangements to rent furniture.
There are many reasons for inquiring about the opportunity for a short-term stay. Here are a few:
- You’re not sure making a move to senior living is right for you or your loved one, and you want to just try it out
- You or a loved one is recovering from a hospital stay or rehabilitation at a skilled-nursing facility and is not quite ready to manage care at home
- You are the caregiver of someone and want some time off for a much-needed break or vacation
- You want to take a mini-vacation from your usual routine without going far from home
If you feel that a respite stay may be right for you or a loved one, call us. We can help you choose the right community to fit your needs.
